jpgraham1
Hello, I am currently joining the guard and am interested in aviation. The question I have concerning the class 1a physical is this: 15 years ago I broke my arm and had a plate and screws put in. They are still there. I was a high school and college athlete and never had any problems with growth, mobility, or loss of strength. Can this be waived, or is the plate and screws automatic no go? Any help would be appreciated.
PhrogGuy
Short answer, yes. I had the same happen to my leg in high school about 15 years ago. Chances are good you are going to have to get a consult. Just got my approved flight physical back. Took about 2 months between all the appointments. So, it is not impossible. av8rnik
If you can get your hands on all the medical records from the doctor that did the surgery that will help. I had to dig up doctors notes from a broken finger 14 years ago.
