Helischool with Schweizer 300 CB around Fort Myers, FL

Hi all,

I will be in the Fort Myers area next month and I am trying to find a helicopter school or an instructor to practise some hours on a Schweizer 300CB (which I did my license on). Since I am not current I will need to go with an instructor.

Perfect would be somewhere between Tampa an Naples.

I havnt found any since Ive been here. Bristow in Titusville is the closest for a 300. If anyone knows of any id like to know also.

Thomlinson Aviation in Ormond Beach, FL uses S-300's. I know, that is on the east coast, but....... If you are interested in a day trip and really, really want to fly...... Give them a call.

Hmmmm.... Someone needs to help them out with their searchable-ness. Ive checked the internet and did various searches before looking for a 300 and this school never came up.

Never heard of a school that was too busy. They also will not check you out for solo rental unless you are an active student. I think they were pretty expensive, too. $350 an hour if I remember correctly.

I mailed them to Thomlinson, but did not get any reply, so I assume they really don´t do any more training. Too bad...

Speaking about rates. Is the current rate (at their webpage) at Bristow at 305$ reasonable around the area?

Ormond Beach is a loooong way from Fort Myers though. To bad. Id love to do some part time work down here, maybe even CFI work. But I only have about 15hrs TT in Robbies. I need to find someone flying 500s or Jet Rangers.

Hey tvman, I am I live in fort myers and I can assure you I have not found any local 300cbi helos in the area.98% of my flight time is in 300cbi so i am in a similar situatiin as you. Your best bet is naples which is 30 min south or sarasota which is 40the min north. Both cities have several flight schools but only offer training in the r22,r44,r66.
