Being a pilot in an Airborne Unit

Recommended Posts

When I went through, there were some crazy restrictions. No playing paintball, for one...no matter how safe it was (ie at the local ...place..., with required eye pro, and all). I had heard a lot of those silly restrictions came off shortly after, though it's completely possible a new commander came in and put them back in effect.

My favorite was "no flying on your own time... unless you're already rated, and you need it to maintain currency, come see us".

NO FLYING!!!! What? They expect me to drive to the beach? B)

it's a trade off go to flight school or do whatever you want.

I played paintball the entire time I was in flight school, it wasn't approved by the command.

Do whatever you want, just don't get caught doing something stupid.

I have tons of dangerous hobbies that I will do in the safest manner possible if permitted to do so, but if they want me to give up X for a shot at flying U.S. Army helicopters... haha SO LONG hobby X!!!!
