Fred0311 Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 That I'm glad we have a heated hangar. 1 Quote
280fxColorado Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 (edited) Hangars often not an option... Blade, hub, and canopy covers will make your life a lot easier! I also travel with a small electric ceramic heater to defrost the canopy and warm up the cabin. If caught frosty without these things, fire up and idle for 5 mins. Shut down and inspect blades, get off on your way! The exhaust heat and moving blades usually enough to clear you up. Also, if possible park with your nose facing east to catch first sunlight. Amazing the time difference this can make. Edited October 29, 2013 by 280fxColorado 1 Quote
rubidug Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Someone once told me if he were to rescue an iced up heli, he'd take a hair dryer and a can of Jet A. Not sure what the fuel would do to the blades (or on the clear canopy). Quote
