Jan 2014 WOFT Board

Recommended Posts

So, I created a countdown timer everyone can stare at while we wait.

http://countingdownto.com/countdown-page/show/Army%20WOFT%20Selection%20Board%20Results%20January%2C%202014%7C52d623e0%7C1

Who is the POC at USAREC to make sure civ packets are in board ready status? Mine should be 100%, reviewed it with the QC person before my Batallion Interview. I just want to confirm it's received and in a B status after it's there.

Haha oh the battle that I had trying to find that very thing out. You can try contacting your regional WO recruiter and they should be able to check for you if you can't get a direct answer from anywhere else.

Ya I know typically the civilians find out before AD (which is usually the last day of the board). I was saying that I hope we don't have to wait until skyreaper's countdown which is a day after the final convening date. I hope there isn't another snow storm which would be more likely in Jan, unfortunately lol

What is the process exactly for submitting the packet to USAREC? After the Board interview, do the interviewers email it to USAREC once they give you the thumbs up? Or do they send my packet back to my recruiter who then submits it?

There will be an individual at your Recruiting Battalion in charge of WOFT packets. He'll send it up before the board cutoff date (in theory...ask l3uller). All he does when he deems your packet is complete (he is also supposed to do quality control on your packet to make sure it isn't missing anything) is he sends an email to USAREC with your name and SSN, which allows them to pull your packet from the online database where your packet was being built. It's really quite anticlimactic.

Thanks Lindsey. In a post a few months ago, you said the SIFT isn't reviewed by the USAREC Board. Do they not even look know what your SIFT score is (except that you passed of course) or do they know the score but "aren't supposed" to use it for evaluation purposes since the exam is still new?

I have no idea if that is still the case. It was my understanding it was due to the SIFT being so new, and even then I honestly can't tell you for certain that they didn't see it...but I wouldn't worry about it anyway. I know people who quite literally barely passed it and were selected.

Studying for the SIFT has been a challenge, looking for reassurance on my study patterns for the math skills section: perusing through the ASTB Math section and reviewing my old College Algebra textbook. Will this suffice??

Yes. The ASTB is good study prep. The math won't exceed college algebra. Also, the AFQT has some helpful sections. I'm on my phone now but I will post some links I used when I get to my computer.

Don't underestimate the math either though. It gets harder the better you do. There were definitely some questions that had me scratching my head, and I studied extensively and am pretty good at math to begin with.

Agreed. I wouldn't say the math section was easy. It was difficult. But there wasn't any calculus or anything, just algebra and geometry. The word problems were especially confusing for me if I remember correctly.

I have over a dozen links I used but here are some of the more helpful ones that should give you an idea of what to study:

Called regional WO Recruiter, was told that they are unable to track civilian applicants for their application status. Any other suggestions/options?

I will add that my recruiter told me last week that I was already in a B status and that all that was needed at that point was to electronically forward to USAREC. Im about to follow up with recruiter again, just wanted to hear from someone closer to the final destination.

I also understand that the deadline for January, at least for civilians was last Friday, Jan. 3. I met that plus a few days as long as what my recruiter told me is accurate.

Maybe a better question is how did most of you past selects get confirmation your package was received in B status? Take recruiters word for it?

I took my recruiters word for it the first board and I wasn't on the board. Figured I submitted too late for that board so I waited two months for the next board while trying to get confirmation it was actually there with no luck. Next board comes around and still I wasn't on the board. After that, the recruiting battalion CO got involved and told me I was good and I was able to get someone with some away to call my regional recruiter and he was able to tell me that it was in fact there and I was eventually boarded two months later. Most people don't have any issues at all with it and you're probably fine, but just letting you know my experience. All you need to do is find somebody that can contact the USAREC QC NCO for WOFT packets. Unfortunately, unless you have some ammo (like missing 2 boards) they will likely just tell you to talk to your recruiter. Good luck!
