Leave it to california to make things more confusing than necessary.

 

I am a licensed ag pilot in 6 states and there aren't any apprentice or journeyman programs that I have ever been made aware of.

Take a couple of exams and pay a fee, voila, you are an apprentice. As an apprentice, you have to work under direct supervision of a journeyman. After one year, and I believe 50 hours for helicopters of spray work, you can take another exam, and you are a journeyman.
