TriViper Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I'm a civilian, non-prior and just completed my WOFT packet for Active Duty. I haven't been selected yet, but is it possible to switch to Army Reserve WOFT instead? Whether it's Active or Reserve, I'm still committed to going in, but Reserve would be a better fit for me (getting married and my fiance has a "bun" in the oven....) If one of the Reserve units notices that I've been selected, couldn't they pick me up right away? I'm willing to live in any state -- that's not an issue. Any advice would be appreciated. Quote
smalltownguy Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 First off, congrats on the "bun" and upcoming marriage. I can't answer your question but even if you could go reserves right away your life for the first year and half to two years after selection would have to be the same regardless of active status or not just so you can get the training, food for thought. Best of luck! Quote
TriViper Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 Once selected, do you go into the Delayed Entry Program until you finally swear in just before Basic? Quote
Yamer Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Pm Lindsey that question when she graduates this week. She'll be able to give you a current active duty answer Quote
ftxag76 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I'll tell you right now, the 9J program (WOFT-reserve), although listed in the books, it is not funded by the Reserves at this time, per the Deputy of training at Rucker for ARNG and AR. I've been barking up that tree for a while. In the end I took the active route. Quote
