So here is my situation.. I leave for BCT in May. I know that after BCT, I go to WOCS, and after WOCS I can take leave and move all my stuff from here in Utah to Ft. Rucker, since it is a PCS. However, my wife does not finish her Bachelors of Nursing program here in Utah until spring of 2015. This means that she won't be able to pack all of her stuff and move with me right after WOCS, but will have to come and meet me down there later. So what is the Army's procedure on moving a spouse to a PCS location at a different time than the service member? I have heard that there is a way to do it and get the Army to pay for it, but there has to be a "legitimate" reason for it, and it is decided by the members command. (So Bravo Company at Rucker I believe) Does anyone have any experience or advice on this type of scenario?

Thanks!

You'll more than likely going to have trouble getting your orders amended to include dependents (it will happen, but it will take some time). It was hard for all the married street to seat guys in my class. I think you are going to run into trouble moving all of your stuff and then going back and moving all your wives stuff. I think you may need to move all of your household goods at once, and you'll choose who lives in an empty apartment. Its not about moving people but things. You can claim the per diem for your wife for a while afterwards. I just don't think the Army will (in its current state) approve two separate moves of one soldiers HHGs.

That's what I have heard. I am thinking that it might be less work if we just move what we need for my move, then have her come meet me after her schooling (out of our pocket it sounds like), and worry about it on our PCS out of Rucker to wherever they send us. Hopefully my first duty station isn't Ft. Rucker...

It won't be.

When you talk to the transpo office about moving HHG, make sure you explain your situation to them. As long as you don't exceed your weight allowance you should be able to do what you need to do. You might want to get into the Joint Federal Travel Regs and arm yourself with some info before you go there, cause they absolutely will not volunteer any info on anything non-standard. Do some more google searches, check out Airwarriors too, I'd be willing to bet this is possible.

Is the transpo office at Rucker? Is it a building I call actually look up, get a phone number for, and maybe call with questions? Also I will check google the regs, thanks for the advice.

I haven't even left for BCT yet, I'm still in Utah. I'll look it up though and see if I can find a phone number for building 5700, call them, and see what they have to say about it.
