JTH offers a “Blow the Rust Off” package for those who wish to brush up on their autos prior to the competition.“Last year we had a great turnout. I think all the contestants had a good time. We’re looking forward to another fun event this year”, Jerry Trimble said. The competition corresponds with the annual Lions Club Fly-in/Drive-in. The public is invited to bring their antique, hot rod, street machine, muscle car, motorcycle or other interesting car or airplane and participate in the show. WolftalonID Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 This sounds like a fun event!! Full downs are a fun and exciting manuever. I wish I had been able to do more of them as I was training, but the school I trained at only taught them at the CFI level. I always had a competition anyway with myself for accuracy...it made it fun that way. It would be awesome to pit that skill against other pilots though.... Seriously considering the event... Quote
cburg Posted April 11, 2014 Author Posted April 11, 2014 At $245 all you need to do is show up...I could make you look good ;-) I bet his insurance company really looks forward to this annual event. Quote

pilot#476398 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 ... but the school I trained at only taught them at the CFI level. Yeah mine too. So I went to Oregon and took Jerry's Touchdown Auto Course,...lots of fun! Quote
aeroscout Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Looks like you'll need a time machine.Yeah, I wonder if they still had that as an annual event in 2013, and this year. Quote
heligirl03 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Yep, it was in September last year. This year is June 22 and they've added a flour bombing contest along with an ADS-B presentation by Garmin. Jerry rides shotgun in his aircraft for all the full downs. Quote
Boatpix Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Jerry was one of the original rhc factory test pilots and likely has more r22 touchown experience than anyone on the planet. And he still flies almost daily. I started flying r22s in January 1986 and like eight years earlier he was doing test piloting duties in an unknown helicopter that hadn't come to market yet that a Franklin Robinson of Torrance, California was going to bring to market at $22,000.
