akscott60 Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Does anyone else just sit in absolute silence? I just spent 3.5 in the Hook, mostly flying IFR. Between the other pilots, radios, crew, and other traffic, my ears are toast. I will sit in silence for at least a half hour. 1 Quote
Joe_P148 Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 3.5 I thought you said it was a long day?! 1 Quote
akscott60 Posted April 22, 2014 Author Posted April 22, 2014 Not a huge time in the cockpit, but it was a checkride. haha Quote
WaterRooster Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I do the same thing. Civilian side, flight instructing for 8 hours of flight a day I would ride home in silence. Your not alone brother haha Quote
skyreaper Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Usually go have some fun when I get a new cert./rating. Sat alone in silence correcting mistakes when I failed my instrument rating after doing a nice VOR hold and getting simulated instructions to intercept another VOR about 75 miles away. My intercept angle to the designated radial was almost 90*, examiner didnt like that. His last name was Ball, called him the ball buster. Passed the next day after shooting a LOC BC and giving him another $400. Quote
SBuzzkill Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I like quiet time at the end of the day whether I fly or not. But yeah I know what you mean. It's nice in the summer when I can go sit on the porch with a beer and listen to the trees. Quote
brackac Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Well, I see someone has already made fun of you for saying 3.5 hour is a long day. Quote
akscott60 Posted April 23, 2014 Author Posted April 23, 2014 It was a long day for reasons other than sitting in the aircraft. I've done a 7.2 in the Kiowa. Didn't care about anything other than how bad I hurt after the flight. But the silence is nice. Quote
