Astro Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 A guy came in for a flight review who went digital with his logbook a couple of years ago after his book was stolen. Its not one you can purchase like Logbook Pro, its just something he put together on his computer. For the flight review endosement it states that a logbook needs to be endorsed. So my question is, Is the sticker endorsement good enough, or does he need to print out a page that can be signed as well? Quote
avbug Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 As long as you issue an endorsement to him, how he includes it in his record is up to him. He's responsible for his logbook, so if you make the endorsement on a sticker and he fails to include it, he simply has no record of the training received or the signoff. Keep your own records, and it's a good idea to make a copy of the endorsement, to go in your records. Personally, I'd require that he has a paper logbook I could endorse, because there is the technicality of a legal requirement to endorse his training record or logbook. If he failed to retain the record and you had no proof that you'd provided the endorsement, it could under the wrong circumstances be problematic for you. He can get an inexpensive paper log, and probably should have it, to record his endorsements, at a minimum. Digital records have a way of inconveniently disappearing. Quote
aeroscout Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Gregory G. Gorak has a trademarked CFI logbook that incorporates carbon copies of each entry. That way both of you and your student will have exact copies of log entries for every flight. Quote
Flying Pig Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Print it out on a piece of paper, sign it and hand it to the student. Your part of the interaction is over. If the student has a method they would like you to use that is acceptable you can defintely accomodate them if it can be done. My NVG endoresment was a certificate with a strip of paper paper clipped to it. When I got home I glued the strip of paper into the back of my logbook. In my logbook entry I wrote in "see endoresments on back cover" Quote
