spencer1234 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Been reviewing this site recently and decided to post. I'm an E-4 in the Air National Guard looking to apply for the Army WOFT (any state). I'm currently deployed right now, but I'll definately talk to recruiters when I get back in a couple of weeks. I emailed a recruiter about two weeks ago, asked for information and he said he would email me information, but never did. Tried to contact him again, but didn't respond. He said there were spots open in my state, but I'm not sure if he was just saying that to encourage me to transfer branches. However, I'm curious if it's possible to go ANG directly into WOFT or would I have to transfer into some other MOS and then apply that way? Any advice would help. I'm AFSC 2A753 (Aircraft Structural Maintenance). 2 Quote
Ardo09203 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Depends on the state. Some states will not accept WOFT packets from anyone other than a ARNG memeber. Others may let you put in a packet and only have to have some sort of conditional release. Quote
cwil7280 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I'm an ANG E-4 and got selected for WOFT so PM me any questions, I'll do what I can to help before I ship in 2.5 weeks. ARNG will require you to join as an enlisted MOS first and then apply for WOFT from within, for this reason and others I decided on active duty. The most important thing to do first is to get your DD form 368s filled out. I did one from my unit commander (O-5), Director of Staff (O-6), and the Joint Force HQ commander (O-7) just to be safe. USAR153D Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I'm in the USMCR and all I need is a DD368 to be boarded for my state (FL). Quote
spencer1234 Posted May 15, 2014 Author Posted May 15, 2014 PM inbound cwil7280. Appreciate the responses Ardo09203 and Marine4WOFT. It appears this is a somewhat painless process, but I have said this in the past and have been horribly wrong so we will see what happens. Quote
mxg0166 Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I was a Capt in the AL ANG and I became a WO1 out in CA. There is a federal recognition board and if you pass that they swear you in at the board. Call around to the unit you want to get into and speak with them directly. I only went through a recruiter to get the testing done. Quote

First time I've ever heard that in reference to WOFT selection. 1 Quote
