AdminLB Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 One question survey: As a pilot or mechanic, do you regularly use a tablet (iPad or Android Mobile device) as part of your daily work routine? Wally Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 The company- No. A ream of paper a month, half of which requires a signature, filing, and throwing away. Before you ask, I know how many sheets are in a ream.Me- yes. I haven't used "paper" in years. Quote
Gomer Pylot Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Not yet. The company wants to use tablets as EFB, but the FAA has been holding up approval, and even testing. They're still stuck in the early 20th Century, and seem to have no interest in modernizing. It's all about justifying the job for the feds. Quote
Joe_P148 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Yes, I have foreflight on my IPAD as well as a digital FAR AIM and All the FAA pubs, approach plates and technical manuals. With the search function in most reader programs it makes it very easy to find what you are looking for quick. I use it a lot for planning and filing as well. There are some great apps out there that give you so much information. However, it really depends on what type of flying your doing. Quote
tradford Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 What does it mean when an application is "FAA approved" from an operational perspective e.g. Foreflight/iPad VS Garmin Pilot/Android? Is there a situation where using the non-approved application could get one in trouble? I'd heard that you can't use a non-approved app during a checkride (I didn't use a GPS during mine so I can't verify). Quote
Gomer Pylot Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 It's a marketing term, used to sell stuff. In this case, software. Quote
