Lindsey
Don't go Alaska, I'm pretty sure you will end up in Fairbanks, which is a really small city literally in the middle of nowhere. If you can get Anchorage (JBER) then definitely go to Alaska, otherwise it can be a cold desolate place anywhere else. It will be Fairbanks for sure. That's where the helicopters are. I understand and have heard similar things to what you're saying. We're being told things that I don't really want to put on here, so I'm considering putting it down. Plus home for me is Seattle which is a fairly quick flight away. I've also heard the 60s do some pretty neat missions up there.
darkstarx87
Congtats Lindsey. I'm not on here much anymore ... usually just checking this thread to see what you select. Velocity173
Why not count them? Tennessee is flying them.I think they're getting rid of them very soon. One of our examiners is part time TN NG and he's transitioning to the 60 this month. I gave him one of my old 60 CDs to study.
akscott60
Drum = No cool guns. And frankly, that matters to me. More than just about anything.
SBuzzkill
After the 3rd year of doing quarterlies and inventories, packing and unpacking, waiting for MWOs, etc. I'm so sick of messing with guns. I haven't touched mine in over a year. LoL I do miss my handgun though. Edited July 24, 2015 by SBuzzkill

USCav19D
Are all of the 60 slots now for the Mike, or does everyone train on the Lima while guys going to units with the Mike get follow on training?

The reason is there are still a few units out there who do not have M models.

Lindsey
Those poor soulsGranted I haven't flown either model yet, but the old-school part of me prefers the A/L. I have a thing for steam gauges.

Brian101193
Is that not....ya know, infuriating? Unless you really want hawks, but I still feel like that's a bit of a broken system #NoTA
Lindsey
Is that not....ya know, infuriating? Unless you really want hawks, but I still feel like that's a bit of a broken system #NoTATwo classes in a row awhile ago with no Hawks, so even if you want Hawks it's just a gamble. Bottom line, keep an open mind and don't fall into the whole "X helicopter is the best on the Army because reasons" bullshit.

USAR153D
Is that not....ya know, infuriating? Unless you really want hawks, but I still feel like that's a bit of a broken system #NoTAUSAR and ARNG already know their airframes and unit locations prior to their arrival at Rucker, with some exceptions. There's just no way to have some sort of OML for such a thing when the state/component is writing the check for you to be here. The 'worthiness' of the individual is left up to his/her selection board and the unit that 'accepts' you. If you're an AD WO/LT and fretting about things out of your control, it is only going to make things more stressful for you out here. I hear and see it everyday with the AD folks. If you make peace with the fact that having the opportunity to be an Army aviator is awesome enough, you'll take whatever airframe you end up getting with a stupid grin on your face.
akscott60
In a selection the other day, a Guard guy stood up and said "UH60M". The guard rep was like "Well, you got upgraded to CH47F". The look on his face was priceless.
