zaurus
It's interesting to see the C-12 is USUALLY the most preferred selection by the top students in being a non combat aircraft. Mission needs to be done but it definitely takes you out of harms way. In the other services, they fight tooth and nail in flight school in getting a fighter aircraft. Different mind set, obviously. A lot of it comes down to the known quality of life differences between being ina C12 vs a traditional CAB in the Army. You'll still frequently see people who score top of the class select Rotary wing as their number one.

For the same reason, top students , in most cases, pick the CH-47, not AH-64.

BattlingGravity
Today was something like 22 UH-60s, 6 CH-47s, 13 AH-64s, and no C-12s.

If that is the case I’m guessing when they fix the shortage the next few classes afterwards are going to be apache H E A V Y

Reality is the numbers reflect what the Army needs. Most of the classes including mine only had diversity due to NG or AR people getting the random handful of 47s. Most classes are filled with mostly 60s and 64s. Our class had 2 C-12s which went to the top 2 warrants all of the 47s were guard excluding 1 that went to a LT. I would say there is always a handful if not more people that want C-12s due to the lifestyle that comes with the airframe. If you want 60s, finish in the top half of your class and you’ll likely have that opportunity. Finish low and needs of the Army is what you get. Can you go in depth on what you know about the “lifestyle” that comes with c12 as opposed to rotary wing?
zaurus
If you had to fly into harms way in any Army aircraft, I prefer my younger sister in flying the C-12.
