The 17 tiedown fittings (Figure 6-13) installed on thecargo floor can restrain a 5000 pound load in any direction.All tiedown fittings incorporate studs that are used toinstall the troop seats. Eight net restraint rings in the cargocompartment prevent cargo from hitting the bulkhead atstation 398, or entering the crew area. The upper restraintrings are rated at a 3,500-pound capacity in any direction.Tests have demonstrated failure of the lower restraint ringswhen individually loaded at limits less than 3,500 pounds.This depends on the restraint ring attachment hardware andsurrounding structure condition.
