Baybay87
Just got a follow up call from my recruiter. Almost had a heart attack thinking there was an issue with the submission.
vutall
Age:26 Rank:E-5 DOR: Nov 2012 Years of Service: June 2007-Present Education: 2x associates degrees, Criminal Justice and Emergency Management, 3.5 GPA GT: 116 SIFT: 42 (timed out on one section, hidden shapes, I think) AFPT: 189 (I suck at PT so much) Waivers: None Recommendations: HH60 CW5, F16 O-6 (Current commander, F16 O-10 (Former commander from 2013). Military Schools: Security Forces Tech School, Command Post Tech School, Air Operations Center Qual Course, Command and Control Qual Course, Anti-Terrorism lvl 2, Airman Leadership School, Road Warrior, TRF Assault Course Aviation Experience: None, but was part of an Air Assault unit for 3 years, have 188 hours logged as operational support crew aboard UH-1N Airframe, and have worked 3 years as an Airlift Control Team supervisor for the 612 Air Operationa Center. Military Awards: 2x Air Force Commendation Medals (One under the Act of Courage criteria), 1x Air Force Achievement Medal Deployment Experience: 1x tour at Bagram AF Flight Physical: Stamped and Approved 1-W as of May 2015 My AFPT score is absolute crap. I am 5'10 and weigh 133 soaking wet, so it has always been rough for me.  Plus, I just found out I have depression, and am now on meds for it. Sucks because if I do get picked up, I wont be able to actually fly unless they approve a waiver. I guess Ill go to WOCS and then head to flight only to be grounded. Asked the recruiter if I should pull my package and he said to keep it in. Hopefully my LOR from the 4 star and the CW5 makes up for my shitty scores. I figure if they are willing to put their name on the line, it has to mean something, right?
AFmarksman
AFPT: 189 (I suck at PT so much)Â My AFPT score is absolute crap. I am 5'10 and weigh 133 soaking wet, so it has always been rough for me.Your APFT score was the same in May. Have you taken another APFT since then? What have you been doing to improve your score? Ajreidy
PT score is something you are 100% able to improve.
Koba24
I don't think depression, medication, and flying mix well together...at all. Huge safety concern regarding yourself and others around you. Were the flight surgeons aware of your depression and the meds you're taking when you went in for your physical? Just curious on how they would deem someone flight worthy with a situation like this. Maybe it's none of my business. Anyone out there have some knowledge on the subject??? Seth G.
Anti-depressants will ground you. It sounds like the flight surgeon had no knowledge of this considering he was diagnosed after his class 1 was stamped. I have to maintain a class 4 flight physical for my MOS, and I had a friend that took anti-depressants which immediately grounded him and eventually lead to him reclasssing his MOS. Class 1, being more extensive than a class 4, would surely not be approved while on depression medication.
shainbourassa
Anti depressants are a class 4 medication meaning they need a waiver. Under the lyster checklist it is noted as waiver not recommended. However I suppose anything could be done.
Koba24
My district representative, Cathy McMorris Rodgers, just had her office call me from D.C. and offer to write a LOR for me! I told them I was already submitted for the September Board and will be finding out within the week if I get accepted. If I don't (knock on wood) they gave me a direct email address where I can get ahold of them to get a LOR. Pretty cool stuff!

MckeeC
Excited for those of you getting looked at in the September board but very frustrated I'm now not going to be in it. Been planning this for the last 6 months.
Baybay87
I hope you don't have to wait too much longer! Sorry about all that mess.
MckeeC
It's frustrating but I guess another two months of waiting isn't that bad. Hopefully it goes by fast. I'm just excited and ready to hear the final verdict on whether or not I will have the opportunity to pursue my dream!
vutall
I have not taken an APFT since the May board. For improving my score, I've been at the gym 3 days a week and stopped smoking. For the Depression stuff...I have informed everyone I could. I am allowed to carry a fire arm for work and I have a Top Secret clearance, so I don't see how flying would be any more dangerous to people. I am getting the help I needed. Not sure why that should punish me from doing something I would be great at, as well as something I love which would also make me feel better... mdeneso
For civilian applicants I would guess Wednesday or Thursday, for Active Duty or sister service Friday earliest most likely Monday for a Milper. It's like watching water boil haha.
