I am going to be flying helicopters in South Korea. There is a lot of restricted and prohibited airspace. I have searched the internet up and down. On skyvector, if you go to South Korea and have WORLD VFR selected, you can see the all the special airspace. Where can I get a 1:500,000 (like the sectional) for South Korea?

I have spent the last 2 days plotting and building the airspaces from the AP3A into google earth and haven't even put a dent in it yet.

I'd prefer a paper map (preferably 1:500,000) of South Korea, but at this point I'll take any scale that shows all the airspace.

Any suggestions where I can purchase or where I can request via NGA or other DoD affiliates?

The VFR arrival/departure book is pretty good.

You will need:

AK 95-1

AK 95-3

As for a sectional, there really isnt one. I spent 15 months flying there, and we never had one. The airspace at P73 and P518 are the important ones, and the two books I listed will cover them.

I've already read the AK95-1 from cover to cover a few times and have highlighted the important stuff and been studying it. Been reading the AP3 and AP3A too. Didn't know about the AK95-3. I'll get it too.

Thanks.

Just out of curiosity, how difficult is it to get an accompanied tour to Korea after flight school? I'd love to go there for the experience, even if it meant a two year tour so I could bring my family.

Most people I know that wanted to CSP to bring their family were able to. Korea enjoys continuity.

Ok, that's good to hear. I know pilots who go to Korea build hours fast, it sounds like a good way to get experience early in my career.

I flew right at 400 hours in about 12 months of flight status (15 months total over there).

I cant complain.
