As of Jan 2016 I have achieved my goal in regards to the letters of recommendation. Appreciate the support and insight throughout. Good luck to everyone on their packets and safe flying.

Quick update on my progress:

 

Things are progressing slowly. I missed the battalion board so my new deadline is January 28th for the May USAREC board. I managed to get in touch with a colonel who scheduled my interview for December 15th so if all goes well that will round out my LoR's nicely. I've been pestering that guy for months. I have scheduled MEPS and the SIFT for December 20th/21st so I'm attempting to cram for that while I prepare for my instrument checkride at school and help my wife with the new baby. My fitness isn't where it needs to be but I planned on starting a regimen only after I successfully complete my MEPS trip. Will post an update here after I receive my SIFT score. Appreciate all of the advice here. Thanks for the valuable information and support.

If you can get in front of a battalion board by January 28th, you can definitely make the March board.

The man makes a great point. Definitely start working on your fitness now. The more work you put in, the better you'll be. Trust me, every little bit counts!

If nothing else, the appearance of fitness has a lot to do with your initial impression when you meet in person for the purpose of getting a convincing WO letter of recommendation.

 

I don't care if you just smoked the Ironman, if you come to meet with me and you look like 200lbs of chewed bubble gum, it's going to be difficult for your accomplishments to overcome your appearance. Just the superficial world we live in...
