Skyboss Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Hello, I got engaged in August 2015 and set a wedding date for August 6th 2016. Selected for WOFT Sept 2015. Now I am wondering if I will still be able to take leave in order to come home for the wedding. I sign my contract on Wednesday Sept 23 and will know my BCT and WOCS dates then. Thanks for any insight! Quote
mdeneso Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 There's really no way to plan out that far while you are in training. I would either do it before you ship or wait until all of your training is complete. I had a bad experience trying to plan for a wedding during R&R from Iraq when leave dates kept getting changed around. That's just my opinion. Quote
Caelus Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 During BCT and WOCS, no, you won't be able to take leave. The rest of the time I'm not sure about, but I wouldn't plan on it. You really are going to want to get married before you go. It will be much easier, and you will get paid bigtime while in training compared to being single. Quote
StockTrader Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 In the same boat except mine is planned for July 16th. Trying to time the bubble between primary and advanced. I have Primary dates so that made it slghtly easier. However, if you do, make sure you get it in writing that the date can be changed if needed. I had our venue add in that nice little "military clause". Quote
shainbourassa Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 With the exception of SERE and WOCS they will accommodate you as best they can. Before WOCS, depending on your start date, you can take leave, you won't have much though just coming from basic. We had 1 guy get married during WOBC and there is a guy in my primary class going home to get married next week. Edit: we also had another guy push back his SERE date to attend his brothers wedding. Caelus Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Point being: Don't hinge your wedding plans on it. Quote
