napoleonpp Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Sounds about right. I don't know what all you get to skip for being Commissioned but other than that it looks good. I think I started the 64 course about 2 months after selection, but like always some people might have to wait up to 6 months so luck of the draw Quote

I assume most guys just study, workout, and sit around in B Co until they report for their class? Quote

153orbust Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Ha. One hell of a punishme--- I meant corrective training. For me this is what I'm looking at (someone correct me if I'm wrong - probably am):- WOCS (waived due to commissioning and BOLC grad)- WOBC-A (supposedly waved due to being a BOLC grad?)- Dunker- SERE- Primary- Instruments- BWS- AQC- WOBC-B And from my understanding, Primary could start anywhere as soon as the Monday after SERE or 3-4 months later. And AQC (airframe dependent) 4-6 months after selection? That's what I'm gathering so far. I second the Bragg SERE comment... From what I hear, it's only slightly different though, but after having gone through it a few years ago, I am not interested enough to find out if the Rucker course is different . As far as your timeline goes, you should have gotten instructions to fill out a 4187 to skip WOBC-A after taking a PT test on day 1. (At least that was what I was told/given) If you need a POC, PM me and I can hook you up. Other than that, looks about right....and long..... very long when you write it out like that. Quote
Luofynerd Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 This dunker brings me to an important question. I am a "slightly able to not drown" swimmer. If I am selected should I take swimming lessons ASAP? I would hate to drown before ever getting to fly a helicopter. Do people who aren't very amphibious usually have near death experiences in dunker? 1 Quote

Immediately made me think of this guy. Quote

Let's just say when I swim at a pool the lifeguards usually get off their tower and follow me from end to end. 1 Quote

That and spend time with my wife after always being apart on deployments and TDY trips. I definitely think 6 months would be too much though Quote

If so go in the post gym pool in the mornings in full uniform to practice. We used to do it like once a week for PT. My buddy got his vest caught on the minigun at Campbell Dunker and freaked the hell out, ended up kicking one of the rescue swimmers in the face and pissing him off lol. Quote

napoleonpp Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 I actually managed to fail Dunker my first time. I've always been a great swimmer, however it was the getting turned upside down and water going up my nose that got me. I had to drive back down from Hunter for a second chance like a month later. MuffinMan Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Is it weird to be looking forward to Dunker? I've watched a couple videos on it and it actually looks pretty fun. Quote
Creep0321 Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Dunker to me is kind of fun, kind of boring, but easy. If you just relax, there is nothing difficult about it, be smooth. Quote
dovq2011 Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 So, I got my RFO, but I had to ask transitions at FRKS to send it to me. When does all of your stuff finally transfer over? I can't access my CO ORB but can get to my WO ORB and I can get all my CO RFOs but not my WO RFO. Kinda frustrating. Haha. But good news is I finally have my RFO. Bam. Quote

Although 60s do get a wider array of missions vs. 64s, but the 64 is just an animal and kills things. Who knows, we'll see when the time comes - I'd be content with either or though. I'll probably just curl up in a ball and cry if I get C12s though... 2 Quote

Obviously if there's an Apache spot and I make it to that point in this process I will snatch it. Because I know the ins and outs about that thing. Ain't no crewchief gonna be like "oh na sur that trunion is in tolerance, oh that feather bearing is supposed to be deteriorating like that" lol Quote

More like keg stands on Mon, act like you are doing 5/9 Tues, hot wings on Weds, hangover burrito Thurs, leave at noon for the beach Fri, Irish bar Sat, and try to remember where you live Sunday. Occasionally I performed the honors on FUNDET. And I am married. Imagine what the single guys do while on a bubble. Quote

Like a good flight school student should, I did nothing but 5's, 9's, and PT. I wouldnt know anything about Harpoon Harry's, Mcguires, or the white sand beaches of Destin and the hidden gem that is Miramar beach. 1 Quote
