Greenvalley285 Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 HMD (Helmet Mounted Displays) are being worn by military pilots. However, these HMDs require integration with a specific helo, as vital information like speed, heading, torque etc is sometimes also projected infront of pilot eyes. Are there any such system which only project the night view infront of pilot eyes, like TOPOWL, where it encloses complete eyes of pilots. but tactical symbology alongwith flight instrument information is also projected. Is there any helmet system which only project the night view? kona4breakfast Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 There may be something in development like that, but not anywhere close. At least, I think so, based on what I can decipher from your grammar. Quote

Due to the variety of configurations that are available on the market, it’s hard to evaluate and compare different models. The technical sheets are often confusing due to the large amount of numerical data that, some times, seems contradictory. These are high end products (for deep pocket end users) and whatever your needs, manufactures can provide at a cost. You’ll have to do the foot-work yourself and get with manufactures for information and try the HMDs for yourself before buying. TopOwl can display before the pilot’s eyes images from any sensor located on the aircraft such as an FLIR HD, so it can provide what you’re looking for and more; however, I think, what you’re really looking for is a cheap single function, turn-key solution. However, staying with your standard night vision goggle maybe your best economical solution for most commercial missions. The following manufactures may have something.
