good day all,

i am new in this forum. i just want to ask some few question regarding the bell 407 that i maintain because the oil from transmission will transfer to the engine . we refer to the manual regarding the problem and according to it we have to replace the PTP seal in the freewheeling unit.. we replace the PTP seal but the problem still remains.. we already replace PTP seal 2 times .

the inner part of the PTP seal has a damage . my question is what causes the inner part of the seal to be damage ? and another question, is there other reason why the oil from transmission will transfer to the engine. ?

hope someone can help..

The damage to the seal and leakage are the result of the seal not being installed properly. if the seal doesn’t get properly seated during install, you’ll end up with this problem, which is way to common with the Bell 206, 206L, and 407 models.

Use the pusher assembly to install the seal on the engine side, making sure that the metal part of the seal points out from the engine.

Using the Puller and Pusher set makes it much easier, however, some A&Ps can get it right without the extra help.

Unfortunately, if all else fails, follow the directions in the Maintenance Manual (MM) and use the recommended Puller/Pusher per the MM.

P/N 406-240-009-115 Puller Set

P/N 406-240-001-101 Pusher Set
