DizzyD Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 http://helihub.com/2015/11/12/robinson-working-on-new-r44-model With a 1.1M Bell 505X and Guimbal joining the marketplace in volume maybe Robinson has something new on the way to keep the order books full? 1 Quote
RagMan Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 The bell 505 was a quick, rapid response to the R66 joining the market. Maybe not even so rapid in some respect. It just seems like it came together very quickly. Unfortunately, it's Bell's mistake for not finding a replacement for their most basic, light single turbine workhorse for so long. They should have had something cooked up 15 years ago. Now, they'll also be looking to replace the 206 long ranger, which hopefully isn't a stretched out version of the 505. Needless to say, Bell is at the back of the school bus right now, and it's not a pretty place to be. 1 Quote

wants to fly Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Here you go http://702helicopters.com/en/robinson-r44-cadet/ Quote
Goldy Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 The Cadet.......less hp (same engine) less gross weight even though its the same components of a Raven 1....and as far as I know, same TBO? Hopefully they GREATLY increase the TBO to cut the operating expenses so they can then compete against the other 2 seaters in the market. Bummer for me, as I have flown every single model that they ever produced, now I have to go find a Cadet? I love flying Robbies, I really do. But I wish they would have consulted me on the name!! Astro Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Is it really that much better than just flying with no one in the rear seats? If so, why not just make the rear seats removable? Quote
Eric Hunt Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Y'all are getting so fat that most of y'all don't fit in an R22 any more, or if you do, there is only room for a teaspoon of fuel. So, use a fatter machine, make sure that 4 fatties cannot be carried, de-rate the engine so it doesn't get overstressed carting fatties around, and Bob's yer chubby uncle. 3 Quote
Pohi Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I don't get it....which is why I'm not a helicopter designer. Less max gross weight and less engine power is supposed to be a good thing? The article says it's to provide better power margins at higher altitude. I'd just rather have a good old fashioned R 44, do proper performance planning, and reduce payload at higher altitudes if necessary. I am curious about how big the baggage compartment is. 2 Quote

eagle5 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I believe I've heard of this, let me put down my pop-tart and tell y'all. Its the new R44 Grimmace Sponsored by McDonalds! The seat weight has been increased to 450 lbs and the seat belt has been lengthened by 3 feet! In place of the pilot side GPS there's a tray for your Happy Meal including an over-sized cup holder with an extra long straw adapter. The rear seats have been replaced with a cargo compartment ideally sized for your Rascal Scooter. Plus, after every 10th landing you get a free super-sized fry! (after purchase of a Big Mac and Extra-Large Soda, only valid for Student Pilots with a current solo endorsement) 5 Quote
BCBOATER Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Sadly they didn't make a stretched 66 with seating for 3 more in back....a more powerful RR with at least 550 hp....and add another 80 or more gallons to the fuel....then a hook with 3k lb load. There are many in the industry who I bet would line up for that machine. 1 Quote
