sskyle03 Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 I am seeking some opinions here! I have the opportunity to bump back one class and take on the Lakota class or stay in my original 67 class. I listened to the captain give his opinions today but I'm undecided. He's sending up the list tomorrow!! Quote
sskyle03 Posted December 10, 2015 Author Posted December 10, 2015 Leaning towards staying right where I'm at. Just wanted to get a general opinion since I was afforded the opportunity to actually have a choice in the matter! Lol I bet you can't say that very many times in the army! Quote
Cantankerously Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 if you want to fly -60s then do it. 1 Quote
Yamer Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Real pilots have done fulldowns.AMEN!!! Quote
zVo Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 In my opinion, you'll have better baseline pilot skills if you go with the -67. You'll also appreciate the advanced airframes more because you'll better understand what the different systems are doing for you. The UH-72 has more in common with the advanced airframes -- I'll give you that -- but you won't be as well-rounded as an aviator. Plus, if you really want to fly a Lakota, there's plenty of EC-145 jobs out there once you have your 2500TT/1000 PIC. Quote
akscott60 Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 It doesnt matter a sh*t in the end. If you dont mind 60s or C12s, why not? Its the first class. Would be kind of cool anyway. Quote

Yamer Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 What does 60s or C12s have to do with it? Can they not select 64s or 47s if they fly lakotas? Quote

Can they not select 64s or 47s if they fly lakotas? As of right now, no 47's and no 64 E's, only D's.... obviously that will eventually change, but when is anyone's best guess. Hell the day before it started they were saying no fixed wing too... Quote
apacheguy Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Definitely stay with the 67. I flew the Lakota and loved it but learning how to do touchdown autos may well save your life some day. The Lakota is a great IFR bird but is not what you need to learn to fly in. Quote
brackac Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Cool kids flew Kiowa Warriors. You didn't even fly it long enough for them to take the training wheels off. You were in like an extended BWS. Quote
Rob Lyman Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Really cool kids flew the T-34C and TH-57B/C. Just saying. 1 Quote
Creep0321 Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Really cool kids flew the T-34C and TH-57B/C. Just saying. The T-34 was fun, and my first introduction to aviation. Quote

Hell the day before it started they were saying no fixed wing too...So if you are in a Lakota class you can only select C-12, 60 or 64D? Is that only for the first Lakota class and what's the through process behind that? Just curious Quote
Creep0321 Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 No one seems to know and it changes, like I said the day prior to the class starting they said no fixed wing. There is a chance by the time the first Lakota class gets to selection all options will be open by right now that is not the case. Quote
Yamer Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 I'm still sitting here trying to come up with a logical reason that makes Lakota flying have anything to do with 64Es and 47s. Quote

So it's only a matter of time. But I could be way off... Quote
