January/March Board

Recommended Posts

Here is a message I just got from a buddy Army Pilot that wrote one of my LOR's.

"So I talked with the aviation branch chief yesterday. He's a colonel, and said on this last as session board it was 100% pick up rate and that if someone were to put a packet in now they have about a 100% chance of getting picked up. His exact words so get that packet in asap." Aka everyone got in and it's looking really good to get in in March. Go get 'em.

Are you talking about for active or civilian?

I think it's going in waves. The boards last year had around 200 AD applicants with 50ish selected each board. The November board had less, with 150 applicants but they still selected almost 50. This board there were only 92 applicants and 48 selected. I only know for this board the civilians had 23 apply with 20 selected. I think they are trying to get about 50 AD applicants per board selected. If there are few applicants, your chances are better. I can't imagine how they would be able to anticipate how many applicants they will have so I don't know how they could say 100% will be selected.

For the AD side it's a 58.54% selection rate. Not bad. But I wouldn't read too much into it though, if what Tough Actin says is true then if for March 200 applicants submit look for a selection closer to 25%. Just submit the best packet you can and everything else will take care of itself.

Would appreciate all those selected posting their stats.

Like I said it was just word of mouth. It wouldn't be that they are predicting how many will apply but more likely that there will be more spots open. If the trend of the amount of applicants stays the same then that bring about the possibility of all of them being selected because of more spots being open coming to the figure of 100%. Now that's just speculation, but it's definitely not bad speculation.

That is something I've been interested in doing. Does the CAP accept part time volunteer pilots for SAR?
