Bdavidson7
hey everyone, being that people will be posting stats and what not for this selection board soon i just thought i would give yall a little help. I will start with the "posting stats" - the SIFT and GT scores is only a check point in the applicat for selection. many people seem to think that if they have a low SIFT score or low GT score they are losing their chances of getting selected. coming from the Warrant Officer Recruiting 153A cooridnator, the only Stat that matters is your APFT. the average "officer" is scoring roughly a 271 however if you score below that please do not feel discouraged. this score is there to make sure you will phyically be able to pass future APFT's and keep up if you will during training. I know im not the fastest of runners however I run half marathons so I am more about pace running. From my understanding one of the biggest aspects of your packet will indeed be your LOR. having someone who may be important to you may not be as important to the board. make sure you are not shooting for the bare 3 unless they are very impressive. from everyone i have spoken with that has either been selected or is currently an officer has enphasized on how much the LOR can carry. The packet itself can be challenging to build. I have run into so many "speed bumps" through the process that at this point im praying my hard work doesnt just go to waste. when writing your "why I want to be an US Army Warrant Officer Aviator", make sure you write about exactly that as dumb as that may sound. I have looked at several packets that have been both selected and non selected, from what I have seen the essays that focus on what you have to bring to the Army as a Warrant Officer seem to do better. I understand some of you reading this might wonder why someone who hasnt even been boarded is telling you this. The reason being is that this packet has been both a challenge for me and an inspiration to keep pushing. im coming from another branch which to me feels like im already under anyone that is already AD in the Army. however if I can spread even the smallest amount of help to those pursuing the same dream as me I am more than happy to help. I have done research for this program for almost a year now and it is a great feeling to finally be able to submit. I wish good luck to every candidate applying!

eaelliott5
Hey guys, So my recruiters told me that this board was cancelled and that I would have to wait until the November board. I haven't verified this, but that won't matter because I can't seem to get them to schedule my flight physical, I'm trying to figure out how to do it myself. that being said, Age: 31GT: 128SIFT: 65APFT: nothing official yet, max pushups, last run, 13:35 (need to drop 15 secs) and seriously working on my sit-upsCivilian Education: University of West Florida B.A. Criminal JusticeFlight Physical: Any advice?LoR: Congressman, Chief of current Fire Department, Retired NFL Head football coach, Working on a couple of military/pilot onesFlight Time: NoneMilitary Experience: 3 years 19 wks active duty infantry 82d abn with one combat deployment to Afghanistan. some reserve time (6 years total)Waivers: None Anybody have any advice on getting this physical scheduled? I've been hearing that for two months now. I thought it would be 'easy' - it is per say, but getting things scheduled and aligned is the hard part. Mine will in the end be broken up into four visits because of scheduling. For example, we did not know that initial flight physical optometry actually requires an appointment, as well as a meeting with the flight surgeon. Right now, I have to do them both on separate days. There are still unknowns in the process and I have to pass it all of course. I am sure some experiences have been more efficient and some less so. I might have been able to do it all myself - however my recruiter didn't like the sound of that. I can understand however I think it would have been more expeditious in stead of going though a bunch of channels.

15BTech
I haven't seen a cancellation for the September board and the memorandum I received from USAREC still shows it happening. If I see anything come from the grape vine I'll keep you all posted.
Gotch86
Recruiter told me the Sept board is still good to go. Looks like a lot of the guys on this forum got picked up for the July board as well. Hope y'all do well on the Sept. board. Also, if any one has gone to their BN board yet please post about it. steve0
Looks like I'm over here with you September guys now. All you guys out there working on the September board, make sure your info actually gets submitted! Don't just take your recruiters word for it, check it at all points in the chain of command. Check with the guy you recruiter sends your packet to, check with the next guy he gives it to from there. Make sure it's done! I was going for my second look after not being picked up in March, but my recruiting station told them I was planning on enlisting after not being selected. They removed me from the applicant pool, then my recruiting station didn't give them my updated packet in time for the July board. My recruiter never told me any of this, instead just told me I didn't get selected, thinking I would never know. I was gonna enlist if non selected twice, and was ready to go in there next week, but thankfully I read this forum and figured out my packet never made it to the board. "It's so competitive, you're wasting your time trying to get in with a 295 pt, that just doesnt cut it. I'm telling you, go enlisted then submit your packet, you'll get picked up just like that. It's a sure thing. I'd bet my paycheck on it!"
Yamer
Good so after you get selected go in there and demand his paycheck!

eaelliott5
So, big surprise, the recruiter lied to me. That september board was obviously never cancelled. Apparently he was covering his own ass for not getting my physical scheduled. I can't really figure any other reason for him to lie. So he's gone, and my new recruiter is great. Got me scheduled for everything and has me approved to submit my packet late. So it looks like I will make this September board, unless for some unforeseen circumstances. *Update to my stats, got a 274 PT. I was hoping to do a bit better, but it is what it is at this point. dkeate
That's not bad at all. I was just selected with a 274 APFT score. Good luck.Selected from active duty with a 258. I had a lot of 1059s that showed honor graduate and commandant's list and NCOERs that showed a relentless improvement from mediocre NCO to awesome in 6-ish years. I think that carried a lot of weight. I got a moral wavier for underage drinking 10 years ago, before I joined the Army if anyone has any questions.

steve0
Just got back from my battalion board interview. I already did one in February, but since its been so long, they made me come in again. They said I only got a 63/75 last time. I thought I did a much better job this time, but I felt their critiques were a little strange. One big thing was flight time. One of the officers asked, "I see you got recommendation letters from some pilots. Did any of those pilots take you up in an Apaches and fly around? Because that's really what Im expecting as far as someone going in, they should have that experience." C'mon, really? Thats just sounds ridiculous and Im sure there is some protocol that prevents some dude off the street hopping in the gunner seat of an Apache and flying a training mission. The guy in charge basically said, "I don't think you are going to get selected. Your packet isn't very strong, and the selection rate for this is really low. You would have a better chance going in OCS. Im not going to write you a strong recommendation because I don't think you are up to par with the others applying." Said my battalion score would probably be around the same score they gave me last time. The CW5 that wrote me a LOR said I had the best packet he had seen in a year! I hope this doesn't screw me up for the national board.

If a CW5 thinks you've got a strong packet I'd sleep easy.
