WOFT Inter-service Transfers

Recommended Posts

So, you are kind of a unicorn. I dont know of any folks coming from AR. I was straight SMCR myself. Just an educated guess, but once you are selected you would go to MEPS to sign your contract. Presto Chango, in the Army now. I wouldnt expect to do that until near your WOCS report date given that you are discharged from the Corps and enlisted in the Army. They arent going to have you hanging out on Active Duty for an extended period of time prior to your report date. Good Luck man. Hope it works out for you.

This was my process 2.5 years ago. Got my class dates, called a local recruiter, let them know I was accepted and needed an appointment at MEPS within 10 days. At that first MEPS appointment you will fill out a bunch of paperwork, get processed basically into the DEP for the Army while you remain active duty in your current branch. You will also get your actual report date to Rucker and be set up with a second MEPS appointment within a few days of your report date. (I went to MEPS the second time on Sept 9th and was in Rucker on the 10th.) once you have that second MEPS appointment you will have to call the contact on your dd368 to set up your EAS to be the day before your second MEPS appointment (so this appointment cant be in a Monday). Within 30 days of that appointment youll run an APFT with a recruiter. And thats it really it.

Yea nothing has really changed, I just did the same things this year. Your orders will say early reporting is authorized so I came down a month early to get my family set up and familiarize myself with the area. Just going to emphasize what was said earlier, in that you must EAS one day and be at meps the very next day, because if not you will have a financial nightmare with your pay as well as other paperwork.

I took 30 days of terminal.

I requested to transfer my leave, my orders said my leave was to be transferred and my DD214 said days leave sold 0.... but while I was at WOCS some admin Marine that cant read sold my leave anyway. After 11 months of trying to get it back I decided to take the family on a good vacation between primary and the 47 course.

Did you take terminal or PTAD prior to EAS?

Another dumb question, but did your leave transfer over?

No dumb questions here, I decided to avoid the hassle and just took 3 blocks of leave for 15 days each with a week in between lol and Im glad I did because another marine in my wocs class had his sold on him and is still trying to resolve it. You will have so many schools lined up that you wont have time to take leave anyway, atleast I didnt and before flight school is over you will have plenty saved up

Also I was told I was not allowed to take terminal leave as I was doing a transfer and not easing. Oh and you have to go to seps and taps😑😑.

I came from Aviation and my Company reminds me a lot of the Squadron I left (in a good way). That being said, I have heard that is not the norm. One thing that irks me a little is that in the Army, everyone identifies with the Division or the job first. Totally ass backwards from what we came from.

Yea they made it to where your Sgt maj has to sign an electronic form upon completion and this is required to receive your dd-214.

They told me I couldnt get my DD-214 without it and a separation physical...... I didnt do either..... talk with the Civilian folks in separations, they found whatever reg it was that said I didnt have to. Its a waste of a week.

My IPAC is saying no way and there is no such document stating that I do not have to go to TRS. I EAS Jan 30th, therefor defiantly do not have time for this crap. If anyone can think of where I might be able to find that reverence PLEASE help. I'm still digging of course.......

Pretty sure I'm in the right place. Didn't want to make a whole new topic. I am a USAF AD E-4 and I am currently putting the finishing touches on the controllables for my package. I'm just looking for some guidance so that I can submit my package without hitting any snags. Few quick questions. Is my recruiter the final recommending SCW or is it the person I'm receiving my LOR from? Since I am AD i was told no battalion board would be required, so once I have all my documentation assembled do I just send my package to USAREC or go through my recruiter?

I am aiming for the packet deadline of 30 March 2018. I have listed my stats below. Its tough getting guidance since I am still stationed overseas, but I will be back in the states in 3 weeks to PCS down to Florida.

GT: 118

SIFT: Scheduled 20 Feb

APFT: Scheduled 19 Feb

LOR's: Reduced from 6 to 4 after reading through some other topics ( O-3, O-5, O-5, CW3)

Physical: Processing at Ft. Rucker received 20 Dec (USAF surgeon certified just awaiting USA)

Conditional Release: Processing with AFPC (taking forever)

Thanks for reading it over, any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

V/R

Another random question... If I have no army rifle qual will I essentially be waiting until I'm out of the pipeline? It sounds like pistol is the only thing they do in WOCS.

Mike

Yes. I'm pretty sure they've dropped the rifle qualification from WOBC. You'll do some fun shooting in SERE but that's probably the last time you'll fire a rifle for anything other than a qualification in your career.
