AndyG107
West Chester, PA – On Saturday, October 16th and Sunday, October 17th (2004), The American Helicopter Museum & Education Center will be hosting its eighth annual All Helicopter Air Show - Rotorfest. The USA Spec Ops Command Parachute Demonstration Team (the Black Daggers) will be there... as well as birds like the Boeing AH-64A Apache, the Boeing CH-47D Chinook and the Coast Guard Eurocopter HH-65 Dauphin, as well as a wide variety of civilian helicopters. These helicopters will be on static display so that you can look inside them and meet the crews. There will be two exciting air shows a day featuring dramatic and exciting flight demonstrations by both military & civilian choppers. For more information: http://www.helicoptermuseum.org/museum/airshow.htm I hope to see some Members there! AndyG107
Whoops! Sorry for the double-post, Gang! Somehow, I typed fly-in into the title... and I was trying to edit the title. The event is NOT a fly-in (as far as I know); but, call AHM and ask just to be sure! Regards, Andy ::rotorhead::
RDRickster
Just booked it on my calendar. Last year, I heard it wasn't worth sticking around for the second day of festivities. I'm debating on whether or not to make it a two-day event for the the family (via RV) or just drag the rug-rat with me for one day. Who's been to the rotor-fest and can provide some advice? Scotty-O
Thanks for the post, Andy! I will def. try to make it. BTW - I'll be taking the train down from NYC and I can get as close as the station in Exton @ 5 miles away - could anyone give a lift? If not, I will just bike it, no biggie!Thanks... AndyG107
Thanks for the post, Andy! I will def. try to make it. BTW - I'll be taking the train down from NYC and I can get as close as the station in Exton @ 5 miles away - could anyone give a lift? If not, I will just bike it, no biggie!Thanks...Scott, What day(s) are you going? I'll be going up Saturday for the B47HA Annual Meeting (not much else... I have a wedding to go to at 1300!)... and will be back up at AHM all day Sunday (pulling 1/2 day doing my bit as an AHM Volunteer, then walking around with the Wife, etc.). Email me at delockdr@comcast.net, maybe you could come into Claymont, DE (5 min from my house)... and I could (atleast) shuttle you up there... as long as you don't mind ridding in a 1991 E-350 Type II Ambulance that's now a Locksmithing truck!! Regards, Andy ::rotorhead:: P.S. As for the "Thanks".. the post was for the benefit of all of the VR Members. I'm new here... and want to help out as much as I can (maybe even with the site?)... SkyFocal
I attended the Rotorfest a few years ago. Back then, it was OK to fly in... in fact, they waived the admission fee for fly-ins. I have sent an email to the organizer to find out if they are allowing fly-ins this year. If I hear back, I'll post the answer here - and I will be flying in, too. It is well worth the visit, but you can see everything you want to see in the first day.

AndyG107
Well, Gang... TOMMORROW'S THE DAY! ::2thumbsat:: I was up at N99 this afternoon, helping with the set-up... We had two US Marines Sikiorsky CH-53D Sea Stallions come in around 1320 EST... and they're sitting out on the tarmac... An AH-64 Apache was enroute (South Carolina maybe?)... but, the crappy weather had them running behind (the Marines said they were running the 53's just ahead of the front all the way up from their carrier down in Norfolk)... Two Blackhawk were also enroute... I believe they were coming up from Andrew AFB... Also, I help one of the guys set up his Snowbird Gyro (main rotor set-up, attachment, pre-flight, etc)... but, the weather wouldn't co-operate with us enough for a check-ride... BUT, the weather should be clearing out tonight... and it looks like we're in for a GREAT WEATHER for both Saturday and Sunday! I'm looking forward to meeting some of the VR Members! AndyG107
WOW! What a weekend! I'm completrly exhausted from standing on my feet all day! I had a chance to catch up with Jeff (Skyfocal) on Saturday... and have a picture that I took of him on the ground... There are a few more pictures to post; however, I'm too tired tonight... and I can't figure out how to post them anyways!
