WOFT applicant Essay

Recommended Posts

This forum has been a wealth of information for me as I pursue the WOFT program. To all the members that take time out of their days to provide some level of direction of these programs, I salute you.

I know various parts of this forum address the WOFT applicant essay to some extent. I am wondering if someone could provide an advanced look into what the board members look for during the selection process.

What do you feel is the most important aspect to address for the "Why I want to be an Army WOFT aviator" essay? I don't want to write a fluffy and boring essay as to why I've always dreamed of becoming a WOFT aviator as I don't believe the board is particularly interested in my "hopes & dreams". I know it needs to be concise and to the point but I also have a huge writer's block when it comes to writing it.

I've been in this process for the last 6 months. Completed every part of the process except for the Essay and the Battalion interview. I am hoping some members can "lead the horse to water" here. I've written essays before for various flying jobs (I am a civilian rated FI-FW) but this particular essay is haunting me a bit considering it could be that last ditch effort to convince a board member to pick me.

Thank you in advance for providing guidance in this area!
