AD Recruiter here, just a heads up that as of today the Battalion board Interview is no longer necessary for civilian WOFT applicants. I cannot share specific USAREC messages but as of today, it's no longer needed.

Interesting. I wonder why the change? Battalion board not having the desired effect on vetting applicants?

Its that good? My packet is going in next week. Wonder how that will affect the submission process... does this mean they go straight to the national board, or just a battalion review board with no interview?

Should make the process more streamlined if anything. Now you do not have to wait for the BN to schedule you an interview. Your packet will get Quality Check (QC) at the BN then be forwarded to USAREC for the next scheduled Board. If your packet is already submitted then im guessing the BN board recomendations will be removed.

Thats certainly interesting and kind of makes sense. From all Ive heard, relatively few civilians make it to the BB and leave without a recommendation (unless they do something really stupid). I guess the downside is the HQ boards have to review all the packets. Does this change the board schedule posted on the WOFT reqruiting site?

It should not

Thank you for the update, I just got a call from my recruiter telling me the same thing. Hopefully this will make the process a little faster and efficient.

Just got the same call and figured i would check here to confirm. I agree with Christian that it seemed like a formality more than anything.

My recruiters not in the office, so havent heard anything yet. Did yours tell you if there were any other changes about the submission process?

The one thing that doesnt really instill too much confidence is that you lose the actual face to face with folks. Well that and the fact that the national guys now have to read things without the benefit of being able to ask questions. Not sure if thats a good thing...or if it just means that the recruiters and QC take the place of the board and a submitted packet carries their unofficial recommendation is they forward it..

Does anyone know if this will impact applications being rolled form the September board (FQ-NS) to the November board? I would think not, but with as rocky as this process has been, I don't want to take any chances and *assume* everything will go smoothly.

My recruiter (active duty) insists that the board is still required, am I missing anything? This is in california, AD Army, street to seat.

Tell your recruiter to look at USAREC Message 19-012
