I will say you can probably save some money living off post. The best setups I have seen for single soldiers is a handful of friends splitting 4 bedroom places with pools. That's my only regret about living on post, with the heat, and the lockdown, a pool would be awesome. My friends splitting pretty large houses with pools aren't paying all that much more per roommate than my friends sharing less exciting places.
