Shadowlurker Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 7 hours ago, amp said: Which do you prefer and which brand do you use? I enjoy my lip light, which is an ML-22 from Seitz. That said I would have gotten a cheaper one with just all green light if I did it again. The white light is borderline useless and not bright enough to sub for a white light during refuel. Especially during nights when they ask you to read random stuff, it's very convenient. and can also help with seeing additional info on ICS panels and whatnot. Finger lights probably work fine too, I just like accidentally annoying IPs by leaving my light on. Quote
jkray Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 I ended up getting a finger light, if I were to do it over again I would not have gotten one. I had a hard time using it because it took one of my hands away from me when I needed the light. I also had to have it pretty tight around my finger to keep it from moving around and on a 3+ hour flight it kinda got annoying. Also it would get caught on things when It was on, things like the door latches when closing after a refuel. I don’t remember what brand it is but I got it at the hanger. Quote
amp Posted May 12, 2020 Author Posted May 12, 2020 I've always just used my head lamp around my neck. Not a huge fan of that approach. Ordered the Seitz FL-5 finger light. We'll see how I like it. Quote
StockTrader Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 Finger light. I hated having to turn my head towards something i wanted to press. Quote
Wally Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 If the choice is between one or the other and for in-flight use only then I would go (and did) with a lip light, green and white. Tried a finger light only once and found it awkward, limited. But I also carry a small flashlight, that defaults to as dim as I can find, 0.2 to 0.5 lumens, white. Quote
mdeneso Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 Depending on what you fly, I prefer to just use the aircraft lights. Lip light is annoying to get shined in your face when someone forgets to turn it off and turns to look at you. Also a good target to get yourself shot in the face on approach if you find yourself flying in combat. I used a Sietz filtered white finger light for a short period and found it useful for switch identification. Quote
