Gummy
I was reading air international, and it stated that in July Wild Thing crashed killing the Australian pilot. I have looked on the NTSB, and the Canadian TSB, but have been unable to find any info on the incedent, or who was flying at the time. Can anyone confirm for me who the pilot was?I have had the opportunity to speak with a few of the KMAX pilots who come over, and I am hoping its not one of them.If you dont wish to post the name publically, please PM me with the details. superiorheli
I am sorry to tell you that yes, Wild Thing (N162KA) did crash in May 2004 in southern Oregon while on a heli-logging job. The pilot was Jim Ladd, who had dual Australian-American citizenship, and he was killed instantly upon impact. The rotor blades contacted the top of a large Fir tree, initiating the crash. Jim was a fine person, a good pilot and he was flying a great aircraft. 162 was in australia for the past two fire seasons. The aircraft was destroyed.
