Random question.  And I might be out of luck at getting an answer but I still wanted to try.
prior Marine here, about to drop packet.  After 10 year ADSO, would it be possible to transfer back into the Marines.  Considering that after 2-3 years you commission in the Army from warrant.

Any aviators here ever hear of anything like that happening?

That would depend on if you meet the requirements to become a Marine officer. I doubt that after your prior service and then 12 years of Army service the Marines will take you back. Most interservice transfers have active federal service limits well below that number of years.

Although we are technically commissioned officers after W2 it’s not the same as the RLO commissioned guys.

Thanks man.  I appreciate the info.  I am stuck in a predicament.  I just passed my flight physical with no waivers.  And I would love to go back into the Marines on a flight contract, but apparently right now it is EXTREMELY competitive.  They want me to go to go to OCS on a ground contract and compete for Air at TBS.  Usually 3 air slots competed for by roughly

or go Warrant in the Army.  Tough decision because all my life I wanted to be a Marine Officer AND to fly.  Like choosing to keep your left or your right leg.

Former Marine Officer here.  If you go the Marine ground contract route, expect to never see the inside of a cockpit ever. You would be making a huge gamble at it. My TBS class had 1 competitive air slot available and that was only because someone from an earlier class couldn’t pass the physical. If you go through TBS and don’t get the air slot, it is virtually impossible to lat move over to fly. I tried and the Major on the other end of the phone literally laughed at me when I asked. Take this as you want but if you go warrant you will probably fly more than the Marines do too.
