WillyWonka Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Hi there, I'm planning to do special helicopter training, and I have a few options: the Bell 206, Bell 505, or H125. The Bell 206 is the cheapest, but I’m not sure if I’ll fit comfortably. I’m 6’7” (202 cm). I got my license in an R44. I fit in it, but it wasn’t super comfortable. Does the Bell 206 have more space than the R44? If not, is the Bell 505 bigger than the R44? I tried to find a test flight for the 206 or 505, but there aren’t many available in my area. I’ve tested the H125, and it has plenty of space, but the training costs nearly three times as much. Thanks for any advice! Quote
Cod Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 I have 500+ hours in B206. I feel it has less room than R44. I am 6-1, and headroom is tight in the Jet Ranger. Especially when wearing a helmet. Quote
Jakesome Posted February 14, 2025 Posted February 14, 2025 At 6’7” (202 cm), cockpit space is definitely something to consider, especially when transitioning to Bell or Airbus helicopters. If the Bell 505 is within budget, go for it. It’s way more comfortable for your height than the 206 or R44, and it’s a modern training platform. If cost is the biggest factor, try to sit in a 206 first before committing, it’s a step up from the R44, but might not be enough. Hope that helps Quote

Even R66 bigger than R44😊 Bell 206 has absolutely more space than R44, it's 2 different helicopters. Bell 505 obviously larger than R44. You can compare Bell 206 with 505. But anyway the R44 is the smallest one. Quote
