AlexLW Posted February 7, 2025 Posted February 7, 2025 Hi, i am currently a senior in highschool and have had my heart set on the Army and aviation as a whole. I have talked to a recruiter about the program and he insists multiple times that it'd be better off if i enlisted first then dropped a packet. I have a 77 on the ASVAB from a year ago but i am retaking it in 2 weeks. I am already studying for my SIFT test too. I have a solid resume and potential to get good LORs. I am wondering what should i say to my recruiter or if i should find a different recruiter? The main reason he says it'd be better off if i enlisted first is because the program is very hard to get selected into out of highschool. i am aware of this but i still strive to go down that path. KYHunter_23 Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 Army aviation is being impacted across the board. I’m sure you’ve graduated by now, but hopefully you were able to get some legitimate answers. I know young pilots fresh out of flight school or ones that have less than 500 hours under their belt, are being asked to find something else to do within the Army. It’s an absolute mess right now. You can always look into the national guard to become a pilot, but you’re limited to the state you’re in. If you’re already in the Army, find a career counselor for future guidance. They’re being briefed on aviation changes. Good luck! Quote
