My dad was the pilot in this fatal crash. April 2nd will be two years since his death, and I still have no answers. The not knowing is making his death even harder to deal with. The NTSB recently released videos and documents, but most of it doesn't give me any further insight into what happened, as I don't understand most of it . The final report is still not completed, and they have no time frame as to when it will be completed. I just want to know the facts and move on in the grieving process. I'm reaching out to see if any of you would mind looking at the docket and giving me your opinion on what it all means. Thank you in advance!

From the onboard image recorder transcript in the docket right before impact:

"The helicopter went from a nose high attitude to an excessive

nose low attitude, while continuing to roll to the right to a

maximum of 30 degrees. The pilot moved the cyclic left and aft

without an appreciable reaction from the helicopter. The

attitude indicator tumbled and the PFD displayed an obstacle

indication."

Could indicate a flight control problem.

Oddly, the helicopter impacted on the left side, though. How did it roll right and pitch down yet impact on the opposite side? According to the report, that's the end of the video. I worked for Air Methods until recently but never heard any inside info. If there was a problem with the flight controls, I'm pretty sure I would have heard about it. Hopefully, the final report will be out soon and you'll get some answers. It's often 2+ years before it's released for a fatal accident.

I work at AMC and we haven't heard anything internally. A good friend of mine from my days in the military is the mechanic at the Sylacauga base and AFAIK they have no new info there either. When incidents occur that don't have a clear cause it often takes a few years for a final report. Hopefully a final report comes out soon.
