vegasblades
I was registered to enroll into Vortex's PP program before hurricane katrina struck us. Now that they have relocated i am not in a position to attend. I have recently accepted a job offer in Austin that i cannot pass up. i would still like to pursue my dream of becoming a helo pilot and was wondering if anyone knew of any training offered in the Austin metro area..many thanks. PhotoFlyer
There are no schools at Austin Bergstrom if thats what your asking. Closest would be CFC Aviation, AIM Aviation, or a CFI who gives rides in a Bell 47 on weekends at the Georgetown Airport. AIM Aviation isn't a helicopter school, but they have a R22 CFI who rents office space from them. The Bell 47 guy I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole. From what I have seen his practices are very unsafe. I tried to get on with CFC, who I was very impressed with, but Rey (the instructor) couldn't fit me into his schedule and I didn't want to wait. There is Brazos Helicopters, just north of Temple. Silver State Helicopters in New Braunfels. Helicopter Experts in San Antonio. Helicopter Services in Houston. Summit Helicopters and Sky Helicopters in Dallas. The Bell Helicopter Factory School is also located in Dallas. I am living in North Austin, if you need help let me know.
