klasmartin
Just curious if any of you know what the required maintenance action / inspection is for main rotor overspeeds on Robinson helicopters? I'm sure it depends on the severity and duration of the overspeed but to what extent? Any info would be appreciated.
copter doctor
What is required depends on what the max RRPM was, 110-116 or above that. It also depends on wether it was power on or power off. If it was power on then the engine may require an inspection as well. If it was during an auto. then the engine would be unaffected. I don't have a manual in front of me but there are required checks to the drive train and if it was in the higher rpm range the blades have to be pulled and the spindle bearings inspected. You need to get with a trained mechanic that has the maintenance manual and perform the inspections in the overspeed section of chapter 2. klasmartin
Thanks for the reply, not sure what the circumstances of the overspeeds were but recently they've had two within a couple of months and they appear to have been serious since the engines have been sent out.
