alasvegascfi Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 JJNL and AdamSTL - You said it correctly.. I was just throwing a number out there, in means of describing how well the ship handles AND it's capabilities. I have also NEVER hid my name or where I was flying. What is SAFE and NOT SAFE, is in the eyes and skill of the pilot. Some pilots would say doing parolets (spelling) down a taxi way is unsafe, where others would think nothing of it. Some people would say doing an auto from 300' AGL to a full down, would be unsafe. It just all depends on your skill level and that of the ship your strapped too. Some pilots would say doing hover autos from 20 feet, would be unsafe. - Sure it's unafe, IF YOUR SKILL LEVEL is not at that level. A 1500hr private pilot, taught me how to do them, and the landing is just as soft as if you did it from 2 feet. Any hoot what is unsafe and safe, is all in your skill level. People do hammer heads in helicopters, all the time. To me, it's unsafe. And only because I have not really gone out and done them on my own. Had them demonstrated to me though. Some of those AG turns, they do when spraying, to some may be totally unsafe. To the AG pilots it's not big deal at all, with their spraying equipment just inches from the ground in the turns. *** Case in point - The video of the 300C on "photoflyer's" icon doing outrages stuff. Have you KANEDOG seen that video? Is that SAFE or UNSAFE ? I guess I will have to call that SKILL and SAFE. - Of course you called the FAA and told them right. LOL Is what the Blue Angels do safe or unsafe? To the average pilot, IT's WAY UNSAFE. To the trained professional or above average pilot, it's as safe as you can get I guess. Have you been to a helicopter airshow and watch what those pilots can do in a heli? Certainly stuff that I would not try. - They are above my skill level that's forsure. And obviously a lot of us are way beyond yours. Again, I have not hidden my identity in the posts that KANEDOG talks about. I HAVE READ MANY POSTS, WHERE PEOPLE ASK KANEDOG TO IDENTIFY HIM/HER SELF. BUT KANEDOG REFUSES... - OF COURSE FLY SAFE Quote
kanedog Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 I think it is great you are now talking like a pilot with common sense. The above is definately not from an overinflated ego, swelled head, hot doggin, passenger endangering, exceeding manufacturers limits, I am the greatest, heli pilot attitude. While the tone is far diffferent from the initial post that started this all, your ego is in check, safety for you and your passengers seems to be a priority, and all is well. I suspect you may have a had a little splainin to do to your boss, but we all need that once in a while. Quote
kanedog Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 What is SAFE and NOT SAFE, is in the eyes and skill of the pilot.-and in the ships manual Some pilots would say doing parolets (spelling) down a taxi way is unsafe, where otherswould think nothing of it.-why would you want to....there are taxiway lights you may catch a skid on, wind could be a factor, traffic you need to be watching for and if you are taxiing you need to be concentrating on your departure, route and traffic, if you are doing piroetts(sp) down the the taxiway, your attention is not in the right place. There is prolly a nice open field where these would be more appropriate. Some pilots would say doing hover autos from 20 feet, would be unsafe. - Sure it's unafe-it sure is, says so right in the factory manual, something about a height velocity curve. *** Case in point - The video of the 300C on "photoflyer's" icon doing outrages stuff.Have you KANEDOG seen that video? Is that SAFE or UNSAFE ? I guess I will have to call that SKILL and SAFE. - Of course you called the FAA and told them right. LOL- we are talking manufacturers limits, if they were were exceeding them, they wouldnt be doing the show. YOU publicly stated you exceeded manufacturers limits(g force) AND flew rt at vne with a passenger. I merely stated the obvious. Some of those AG turns, they do when spraying, to some may be totally unsafe. To the AG pilots it's not big deal at all, with their spraying equipment just inches from the ground in the turns. -that is their job, while your job is NOT 4g turns, challenging people to fly with you so you can demonstrate 20 ft autos and flying at vne with a passenger. It just all depends on your skill level and that of the ship your strapped too.-and the ship manufacturers limits as stated in their manual And obviously a lot of us are way beyond yours-what do you mean by this..... Guest pokey Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 And obviously a lot of us are way beyond yours-what do you mean by this..... I think ( just my opinion) that he is saying he is a better pilot than you ! I recommend that he reads fling's pinned post on internet ettiquette. (along with a few others) The FAA says "safety is no accident"------how true ! As far as pirouettes go?,, yes i like to do them--goood idea tho? ( i havent hit anything "yet"-so they are safe?) The guy that taught me how to fly 300's demonstrated to me a hovering auto from 300 feet a few times, the H/V curve says 450 feet ! By the time ya hit 52 knots tho,, its too late to start thinking, you better be right on top of the machine. Why do a hovering auto from 300 feet?----NO logical reason on the planet !! ( stay in the H/V curve !) As far as i see it? no reason to hover at 20 feet either--unless we absolutely have too ( & then we hope nothing goes wrong) Quote
