blave
I am going to be in the Denver area next week for bid-ness, and if I can find some free time I was thinking of trying to do a little flying/training. BTW I am not talking about primary training - I have my comm ticket. The options I have heard about, although I don't have links at the moment, are: - high-altitude training in an S300 (Michael Maya whatshisname, of Flying and Avweb fame, has written some articles about this). I'm trying to imagine hovering a 300CB at 5000' and it sounds interesting 8^) .- I recall reading about a Lama or Gazelle operator in the area- I also recall reading about a Schweizer S330/etc. turbine operator All of these are interesting, with the Lama or Gazelle being the most compelling. Does anyone have details on these or other opportunities? Any turbine time at a less-than-ridiculous price gets the nod. I will be staying in a hotel in the Longmont area but can of course head to Centennial, etc. Thanks for any pointers, Dave Blevins
nbit
I've heard Rotors of the Rockies (website) recommended often. They are supposed to do some good high-altitude/mountain training.
Roondog
Call Mike or Regina Fyola at Rotors of the Rockies. They fly 300c's and a 206B3. Great operation. Their number is 303-635-0496. They are located out of BJC which is not far from Longmont. Jeff
blave
Thanks for the pointers guys. I'm still not sure if my work schedule will permit any flying but I'll keep that outfit in mind in case it does. cheers, dB.

chopperbro
Sorry to get this response so late, but an FYI, Michael Mayacharles is his name and he is actually part of Premier Helicopters out of Jeffco airport in Broomfield. They are right down the road from Rotor of the Rockies.. Their number is 303-469-8822

Their number is 303-469-8822 thanks - I ended up dropping in on RotR while I was in the area, but ended up not having enough schedule bandwidth to go flying with them. I didn't know that there was a 2nd operation on-field there, so maybe next time! cheers, dB.
