niftyben Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 I've noticed that when I get out of my bird I drive MUCH more carefully. So I've been wondering if there was a correlation between being a heli pilot and a good driving record. Quote
delorean Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 I know being an EMS pilot has made me so freakin' paranoid, that one day I probably won't leave the house. Now I won't get on an ATV, motorcycle, get near a horse, get on my roof, start brush fires, use a chainsaw, cook meth (j/k), or drive the back roads at night. You only see the worst of the worst..... I hear there's a correlation between high time instrument pilots being VERY good at things hand-eye coordination tasks like pinball and juggling. Quote
skier Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 I hear there's a correlation between high time instrument pilots being VERY good at things hand-eye coordination tasks like pinball and juggling. Does that work the other way around? A person who is good at juggling will be better at instrument flying. I can wish can't I? Quote
Brianmech72 Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 I can juggle a single ball, and I don't think I'll be getting into Chinooks, so I should do fine, right? Aw crap. I suck at pinball. Later Quote

I have found myself driving more carefully as a result of my flight training. I was even thinking that very thing the other day as I was driving home... weird.. Quote
crazydsb Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 I am now 70 hours into my commercial license and i know the exact feeling we are touching on. After my first full solo flight i was very aware of the other divers and my surroundings etc. I have noiticed that maybe after a couple of days that go by with no flying and i do let some things slide. I am not a terrible driver (in my mind) and my record can back up that statement butI have often thought how funny this is due to the fact that the statistics are against us more so for driving on the roads than flying in the air. db Quote
DukeChin Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Aw crap. I suck at pinball. LaterI just stomped my roommate into the ground at pinball last night and am usually the local king of airhockey - this means I'm ready to go, right? Quote
