birddog Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 Just curious to hear if any of your air units also have fixed-wing aircraft, if so what type and what particular missions do they fly? Thanks in advance, Quote
HeliMark Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 My aero unit has three airplanes. Two Cessna 210's that are used for surveillance work. One has a modified window on the side that gives a great view for the observer. Every so often it is used to transport parts/mechanics as it is cheaper then by helicopter if the part/mechanic needs to be delivered to an airport in a different part of the county. One King Air that is used for transportation of detective's or high risk inmates where the airlines are more expensive. Quote
birddog Posted September 18, 2003 Author Posted September 18, 2003 Great thanks!!what part of the country are you in? Quote
Heloplt Posted September 27, 2003 Posted September 27, 2003 We have a 172 that is used for surveillance and fixed wing currency (IFR & VFR). We also have a navajo chieftan that is used primarily for transport missions, but also has been used for some off-shore surveillance missions. The pilots fly helos about 95 percent of the time and since we picked up our 407's the in-state transports are done more and more with the helos when the weather is ok. Quote
Flying Bull Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 We´re running two Cessna 182 in NRW/Germany.They are used to take "under cover" photographs, track suspects, transport of supplies and men and for IFR-training.Still, most of our work is done with our helicopterfleet. Quote
