jimbo2181
They help reduce a vibrations that occur during low speed flight and leveling off after a dive that are only present on that rotor head for some reason.
Gomer Pylot
Lots of heads have weights on them. They're for vibration damping, in all cases I know of. The B412 ended up with almost 300 lb of weight up there, because it couldn't be tracked satisfactorily without it. The S76A series has weights, in a different configuration. The B206 has weights, but they don't move the same way.
Nuke
You will find weights on most main and tail rotor systems. They act like the weights that mount on your car tires to reduce vibes!Just wait until you sling a weight and put it through the hangar walls! That was fun!
