DukeChin
You know, I am rather curious if there are any more seattle/tacoma/puget VR members around here these days. And also, anyone know why there's a white w/ red trimmed huey flying slow orbits around my office in West Seattle? Come on, fess up! (1:30pm PST 10/11/06) I *think* I've seen this bird parked over at Boeing Field before but I'm not sure. Either way, it was nice to hear that familiar whup-whup down stairs. It gave me a good excuse to go out in the sunlight for 5 minutes. In other news, I think I'm going to go check out Classic Helicopter Corp. either this weekend or next. I rather miss flying and need to get off my duff and begin formal training!
klmmarine
There are a lot of rumors flying about Classic Helicopters right now. DON'T Believe what you read, but also don't make any decisions until you can talk to someone who knows. PM Me

DanceswithCyclic
Well, If I had access to a Huey, I'd stop and say 'Hop in'

CROOK
I have not seen the huey but I am a Seattle pilot and VR member! Definitely check out Classic. Very good school, I did all my training there as well as instruction before moving on in the industry. If you have any questions let me know. Also I will keep my eyes open for the huey? Could it possibly have been White and Green? (King County) operates a huey? CROOK
palmfish
Another Seattle VR member here. I'm based out of BFI and I've never seen a red/white UH-1 - KCSO has the only one in the area that I know of.

CROOKHoly monkey, my thread got bumped back from the WAY back machine I figured out which bird it was I saw a few months later: King County Sheriff's Dept. They were looking for a bank-robbery suspect in my neighborhood as I saw the Huey plus all of the local news' birds. I will huck off a few PM's to you classic people as well as check out that thread tomorrow when, well, it's not so late. Thanks for the info and heads up! OH and btw, I just have to say I am loooooving this absurdly sunny yet random February weather. I know it won't last but my oh my it's been nice the last week+. Scott83
Unfortunately, the rumors about Classic Helicopters seem to be true. However, there are quite a few really good schools in the area besides just Classic. I would recommend Snohomish Flying Service (flying the 269C), but if you are set on training right in Seattle, Helicopters NW is a great outfit. Doug Skeem (chief instructor) probably has the most time out of anyone in the R22 and has been teaching for years. I did my training at Glacier and they were also a top notch outfit. Scott83
I think you're wrong, however maybe you will prove me wrong. I have lots of contacts that have been involved with Classic that tell me it's true. What have you heard differently? Scott

DukeChin
Who knew I had it in me to make such a contentious thread a year and 4 months after the fact.
Scott83
After reading your post in the flight training forum, I'm still hesitant to say that they are not going out of business. They may be telling their students a different story, so they don't jump ship until the closed doors happens. I'm not saying I know for a 100% fact, but I would definitely be on the lookout.
