flyingseapig
I am interested in finding an EMS/Utility helo pilot job for a career and have a question that hopefully someone can help me out with. I have my commercial Helo, SEL, & MEL license and instrument rating in both airplanes and helicopters. I have been studying for the written ATP(H) exam. I have the desire to eventually get my CFI, CFII, & ATP(H). My question is do some of the major EMS/helo companies have a program internally to help an employee get these additional ratings? Or does one have to go out and pay for it on his own time and on his own dime? And do most companies have a qualified person that can sign you off for an ATP practical in the aircraft simultaneously with a pilots annual line check? I am just curious as to upward mobility within the EMS/helo pilot community and if these milestones are ones you can get through employment or you need to get on your own. Thanks for any input.
