FauxZ
I'd have done better if I hadn't missed number 3. I could have sworn it was Transylvanian impaler effect. Dang..

Rob Lyman
I'd have done better if I hadn't missed number 3. I could have sworn it was Transylvanian impaler effect. Dang.. 10 out of 10, but I guessed on 9. We used the term "butt line" to refer to the line on the flight deck where we had to align our butt fore and aft to know where we and the RAST probe were with respect to the RSD. Being a sailor, I was tempted to answer mizzen mast on #8!

brushfire21
That was a nice little break from my studying today in preperation for the written in a few weeks. Though that buttline thingy was a new one for me, have to add that as my word of the day!
Goldy
Hey now ! I fly a Bell 47 with wooden blades on occasion and I dont remember any Transylvania thingy! ( Great power...damn is it slow !!!!!) I refuse to believe that a buttline is anything but a line of fixed wingers....hmm, maybe that was a butt-head line ! So, I'm sticking with my 9 out of 10. Guest pokey
In regards to question #9, i remember that wayyyyyy back in A&P school (seems like everything i did was way back ). There are 3 axis of the aircraft, regardless whether its a helicopter OR an airplane. 1) the longitudinal axis increments start at a "datum line" and are called "fuselage stations"2) the lateral axis increments start at a "butt line" and in a fixed wing normally referred to as "wing stations"3) the vertical axis increment start at a "water line" I've done allot of repairs/modifications to both helicopter and fixed wing, and quite a few times use all 3 of the axis locators to pinpoint the exact location of the repair/modification or additional piece of equipment. Glad everyone is enjoying this little quiz, i know i did even if it costs me a few beers
arotrhd
Howdy all... Yep, I came up with the 10 golden beers too...not a bad way to finish off the year. Happy New Year - be safe, stay healthy and hope everyone here continues with a prosperous future. Linc
Missed #10 but would've gotten it right if it was an Army question. Army restricts us to 1/2 mile visibility in Class G below 10,000 feet MSL and below 1200 feet AGL.
JMac24
7/10. Not bad considering the only thing Ive done is ridden in a Heli and taken a demo flight as I dont have the funds to pursue my schooling..

Fact is, you could self study and go pass the written for less than a lunch costs, and be better prepared when you do start flying.!

Fact is, you could self study and go pass the written for less than a lunch costs, and be better prepared when you do start flying.! YIKES I hope I didn't come off in a pompus way. It was probably dumb luck. Just reading on the net I recognized some stuff. I wasn't saying I was anything big. I certainly wasn't trying to challenge anyone! Id get whipped!
