HumblePilot Posted January 8, 2007 Author Posted January 8, 2007 Thanks folks This feature is not very well documentated. I checked out several manual and couldn't find anything. If anybody has more information ... everything is welcome Quote
Gomer Pylot Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 I'm very familiar with the 206 and the 407, but what is the 406? Quote
HumblePilot Posted January 8, 2007 Author Posted January 8, 2007 check the following site Bell 406 and Co ... but I guess Linc is one to ask. Quote
Gomer Pylot Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Why would they call and OH58D a 406? That's a civilian designation, and the OH58D has never been issued a civilian type certificate, AFAIK. That site also omits several civilian 206 variants, and seems in general, at a quick glance, to be a less than authoritative source. Quote
HumblePilot Posted January 8, 2007 Author Posted January 8, 2007 Hey Link ... That one I think is definitely for you.... But I would be glad if we could stick to original subject (lateral mast tilt). Quote
Linc Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 (edited) 406 is the design designation. Bell sold a number of 406 Combat Scouts to Saudi Arabia. They had different mission avionics and sight (HeliTOW, not the MMS) and they were armed long before the OH-58D was. Sometimes you hear the 406CS referred to as the MH-58D, even though they aren't really 58Ds. P.S. The 407 body design is based on a 206L body but widened by about eight inches. The 406 is simply the 206 body with the unique-designed dynamic components that eventually were adapted to the 407. Edited January 8, 2007 by Linc Quote
