Pete McNeil Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 I've got a chance to go to Australia for a 2 month fire fighting job. For visa reasons I have to go as an independant contractor so the companies workmans comp policy won't cover me. What do you independant contractors do for workmans comp. insurance? Who will offer a 2 month policy for utility flying in a foreign country? Hurry, they want me now. Quote
gft Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Not sure about Australia, but-In the USA if you don't have your own workers comp the employer'sWC will cover you. If the outfit that your'e working for hasn't specified that you have your own, they will get stuck for it by their WC provider.I use independent contractors quite a bit in my business and cover themwith my WC.If your'e concerned, ask before you go. gft Quote
